Something for the Vikings fans
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-top-ten/09000d5d8111b583/Top-Ten-Biggest-Upsets-1987-Vikings
Some of us were unprepared for the Ravens/Patriots game. People like
Tom Brady, who rarely has had to deal with criticisms that his most
productive days may be behind him. This video is from the 1987
divisional round between the 49ers and the Vikings. The correlations
between this game and the Ravens/Pats game is fairly thin: The
Patriots had an average defense, a sub-par running game and had just
lost wes welker one week earlier. The parts of this clip that truly
get to me are when you hear the football announcers say, "Joe Montana,
looking slower and slower as age and the Viking pass rush begin to
catch up with him (1:25)." Tom Brady, Bill Bellichick and the
once-powerful Patriots will be looked at in a different light next
season, just as the 49ers were.
One last note about this game. History is very kind to the Washington
Redskins in this particular season, due in part to the fact that this
was the season of Doug Williams. What is left out of the conversation
about his ascension from back-up to the first black Quarterback to
ever win the SB MVP, is the fact that the Redskins didn't have to play
the best team in football on their way to the big dance. I'm not
saying Baltimore is the '87 Vikings, with no all stars and a coach who
looks to be on death's door, but the colts, Just like the '87 Skins,
could have a much easier road to the AFC championship game because
they don't have to play the Pats. That's a big deal.

Something for the Pack

Are you a Green Bay Packers fan? Do you feel as though poor management of the game from the referee crew sealed your team's fate? You have a legit gripe, Cheeseheads. You're consolation prize is another disgruntled fan's bitter memory of a surreal day by the Bay in 2002.
Revenge would be mine, though, as 49ers coach Steve Marriucchi would be fired from his job 8 days after this game and would be forced to work for none other than MATT MILLEN.
